WORKSHOPS AND TRAININGS

Black Feminist Poetics

These workshops cultivate a community of care and accountability for Black poets who want to articulate their writing and their politics in their healing practices. We use ancestral, communal, and embodied forms of knowledge to create new wor(l)ds.

Survivor-Centered Healing

These workshops are specifically tailored to meet the needs of interpersonal violence survivors and their communities through an abolitionist, survivor-centered Black queer feminist lens. I teach healing practices that empower survivors to create the terms of their own healing, without solely relying on the State or other institutions that can harm the survivor and their communities. Let’s take our power back and heal ourselves together.

REVIEWS

Thank you again for facilitating that session. The session was amazing. I really enjoyed it, and I'm looking forward to watching the recording and taking notes. The poem [we created] is so cool! I think a lot of people came with no experience in writing poetry and unsure of where it will go, but left feeling full from the experience and, of course, the pleasure of participation. Thank you for creating such a beautiful, safe space. It was foundational to the day and just felt so good!

Brendane is a literal healing force and her essence effortlessly creates an opportunity to elevate. She is able to see through the eyes of divinity to help shift us into a higher perspective. She creates a radical space of care and accountability. She creates a radical space of authenticity that allows you to see where you are and how far you have to go to live the life you deserve. Her insight is unmatched. Every person is forever changed by her existence.
